Mushahid blasts Gilani for flouting ECP rules

ISLAMABAD Pointing out at the Prime Ministers address to an election rally of Amir Yaar Warran, PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed Monday criticised Premier Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani for blatantly violating the ECP rules which, he said, shows callous disregard towards supremacy of rule of law by the ruling partys bigwigs. Talking to media persons here at PML House, Mus-hahid said it was unfortunate to note when the people were drowning in floods across the country, President Zardari was inspecting his chateau in France. And now when the focus should be on relief operations, the Prime Minister is doing party politics at the expense of millions of flood-affected people who are awaiting help of each and every penny, he remarked. Mushahid came down hard on PM Gilani over engaging himself in party politics and breaching all rules set by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for electioneering. Distribution of state funds for getting his henchmen elected in by-polls further reflects the callous approach of the ruling party leadership despite the fact that each and every flood victim is facing death due to shortage of food, he observed. He said that state funds were not the property of any individual or a party and rather they belonged to the state, which should be spent on each and every citizen equally. Mushahid said he was in touch with former PM Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and had expressed solidarity with him on behalf of his party, as some powerful individuals had turned the floodwaters towards Baloc-histan to save their own farms. It is heart wrenching to note that the so-called democrats are saving their palaces and farms on the expense of poverty-stricken people, their property and assets, he regretted. Calling for an immediate probe into the matter, Mushahid said independent investigation should be conducted and the responsible should be punished for illegally diverting the floodwaters towards Balochistan. He said that he had also talked to President PML-Q Sindh Sardar Ghous Bakhsh Khan Mehr and had expressed sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives and property due to floods in Sindh. Mushahid urged the party workers to take part in the relief work enthusiastically and leave no stone unturned in the relief efforts.
