LAHORE - Despite directions of Punjab government that all private and public schools would remain closed by September 9, certain private schools were opened on Monday and children attended their classes. It may be mentioned that Punjab govt has issued a notification on Monday that government will ensure the implementation of the order for closure of schools during the summer vacation till September 9. The notification further stated that legal proceedings would be started against the violators of this order since 23rd August. The spokesman further stated that directions have been issued to all the Divisional Commissioners and DCOs to take necessary steps for ensuring the implementation of the order regarding summer vacation in their respective districts and divisions. On the other hand private schools owners opened their schools in violation of Punjab government orders and were of the view that it was in the best interest of the children. President All Punjab Private Schools Association Shoukat Ali Khan said in a statement that educational institutions already observed 219 holidays in a year apart from the leaves, which were observed during any sort of emergency. He said there was not enough time with the children and teachers to complete their syllabus. He demanded the chief minister Punjab to change secretary schools. and appoint a new officer who would be in favour of education.
