Advisory issued to seminaries

LAHORE - The city police Sunday claimed to have issued advisory to the administration of religious seminaries making them bound to maintain personal record of enrolled students and not allow any outsider to stay in seminary.
Spokesman for Lahore police said that police carried out search operations in six religious seminaries in the provincial metropolis in last two days and checked the identification papers and other related documents of 1500 students.
Similarly, the police registered 19 cases on the violation of Tenants Act and Loudspeaker Act during the last two days besides rounding up 110 proclaimed offenders and court absconders. The police further checked hotels, inns, guest houses, Railway Station, Lorry Adda, and other bus stands and took action against eight persons out of 31 suspects who had failed to produce their identity papers for checking on demand.
Police also registered two cases under Foreigners Act and sent the two persons to jail. Similarly, the police arrested 34 illicit arms carriers and recovered 21 pistols, eight rifles and guns and 750 bullets and cartridges from their possession.
agency adds: Police claimed to have arrested seven criminals involved in dacoity, motorcycle-lifting, drug trafficking and other crimes during a crackdown in the last week.
Police said on Sunday that Burki police arrested two gangsters and recovered a rickshaw, four animals, two pistols and some rounds from their possession. SP Cantonment constituted a special team which conducted a raid at Mandianwala road and arrested Imran and Qurban and recovered looted items.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed incidents of dacoity committed in different areas of the city.
Shadman Investigation police smashed a motorcycle-lifter gang and arrested its two members besides recovering three stolen motorcycles, mobile phones and illegal weapons.
A special police led by DSP Ichhra circle which conducted arrested Shan (ringleader) and his accomplice Mujahid.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed 24 incidents of motorcycle-lifting in various areas of the city, including Model Town, Shadman, Sattu Katla, Sabza Zar and Manga Mandi.
Mustafa Abad police claimed to have seized a vehicle carrying narcotics and weapons and arrested a couple at Infantry road here. Police arrested accused Azizur Rehman and his wife Shazia besides recovering 4,080g heroin, six Kg charas two rifles, three pistols and 30 cartridge.
Ghalib Market police arrested a drug peddler and seized Rs 102,000 and five Kg chars.
DSP Gulberg Nasir Mehmood Bajwa with officials of Ghalib Markets conducted a raid at Gurumangat Block and arrested Fahad Butt and recovered narcotics.
