islamabad - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in collaboration with a media house will organise Freedom Fashion Musical Gala on August 29 at Shakarparian.

Pakistan Idol Muhammad Shoaib would perform in the gala. Other singers include Laila Khan, Saif Khan, Sunya Khan and Zeeshan Khan. Muhammad Shoaib, famously known for his first reality show Pakistan Idol, is a contemporary singer hails from a non-music background. Shoaib said, “I have my own singing style, I never tried to copy anyone. I have decided that I will never copy anyone and do singing in my own way.”

Meanwhile, the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) Mandwa Film Club screened a film “The Motorcycle Diaries” at Lok Virsa Media Centre, Shakarparian. The Lok Virsa Mandwa Film Club plans to show more national and foreign films regularly every week.

The Motorcycle Diaries is a journey of two friends from Brazil to Peru by motorcycle. The movie follows an inspiring journey of self-discovery and traces the youthful origins. They witness the great disparities in their region and observed the exploitation of the labour class by the wealthy.

When they reach a leper colony in Peru, Ernesto’s values have changed so much that he sides with the sufferers, forgetting his own comfort. The Motorcycle Diaries tells the story of an 8,000 mile trip by motorcycle, raft, truck and foot, from Argentina to Peru, undertaken in 1952 by Ernesto Guevara de la Serna and his friend Alberto Granado.

If Ernesto had not later become “Che” Guevara and inspired countless T-shirts, there would be no reason to tell this story, which is interesting in the manner of a travelogue but simplistic as a study of Che’s political conversion.
