HAFIZABAD

The Punjab government, during the current fiscal year, will provide Rs173 million for the provision of missing facilities in primary, elementary, secondary and higher secondary schools across the district.

DCO Muhammad Usman directed the headmasters/headmistresses of schools to fix priority of the missing facilities to be provided in their schools.

He further said that the provincial government has allocated Rs60 million for the secondary and higher secondary schools while Rs113 million for the elementary and primary schools in the district.

The DCO toured various schools in the district to observe firsthand prevailing conditions of schools. He directed the EDO (Education), EDO (Building) and other officers concerned to ensure early reconstruction of classrooms/buildings of the schools which have been declared dangerous.

He, however, expressed his dissatisfaction over the insanitary conditions prevailed in different schools and directed the headmaster/headmistresses to improve sanitary conditions.

BOOKED: The city police have registered a case against Haji Saleem Ullah and Rai Ashiq Hussain on the charge of defrauding a local Imam Maulana Riasat Ali Naeemi of Mohallah Bahawalpura.

The police have arrested one of the accused and started further investigation.

According to FIR, the accused extorted millions of rupees for giving possession of a piece of land and failed to provide the same.
