Nine persons including two women and two children were killed and two dozen sustained multiple injuries in separate road accidents occurred in different areas on Sunday.

In Sahiwal, eight persons were going to Kameer on a motorcycle rickshaw without number plate. In the meantime, the bus of private transport company, coming from the opposite direction, hit the motorcycle rickshaw head-on.

As a result, two passengers — Muhammad Ashiq and 10-year-old Abdul Rehman died in the spot whereas an unknown passenger died in hospital.

The child’s mother, father and deceased Ashiq’s sister and two other passengers sustained multiple injuries.

The injured were taken to DHQ Hospital where condition of two them is stated to be critical.

The Dera Raheem Police have started investigation into the incident.

In Mianwali, four people were killed and 13 others sustained serious injuries when a passenger bus collided with a truck in Lawah area on Sunday.

According to rescuers, the passenger bus skidded off the road due to speeding and rammed into a truck. Resultantly passengers were killed on the spot while 13 others got serious injuries.

The rescue team shifted the injured to Nidah Shah Bilawal Hospital while the dead bodies were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Mianwali for medico-legal formalities. The police have registered a case and started investigation.

In Sheikhupura, two people were killed and three others injured when a truck collided with a car on Sunday.

According to the motorway police, the car was heading towards Lahore from Layyah when a truck coming from the opposite direction skidded off the road due to speeding and rammed into the car. As a result two people including a woman were killed.

The deceased were identified as Shah Jahan and Shazia, residents of Layyah. The bodies and the injured were shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment.

In Sargodha, a minor student drowned in deep water of River Jhelum while his two friends have been rescued. Reportedly, three little friends were playing in the water of River Jhelum near village Kandan situated on the river bank. Unfortunately they went into the deep water and people rushed for their rescue on hearing their hue and cry. However, two of them were rescued and the third drowned. After long struggle the dead body was fished out from river. The deceased was identified as Uzair, son of Rabnawaz student of Class-III.
