Sindh govt accused of being vindictive towards Mohajirs

MIRPURKHAS - Municipal Committee (MC) Chairman Farooque Jameel Durrani has accused the provincial government of becoming vindictive after the successful rally by Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) in the city.

“Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) provincial government has started the projects through which it intends to punish the Urdu speaking people,” he said, and added, “City’s main roads have been dug out at different places with the help of a heavy machinery without any consultation with engineers on the pretext of a new drainage system. Resultantly sewerage, telephone and water supply lines are lying broken while sewage and irrigation water has got accumulated on the main roads, particularly in Ishtiaque Town, Akhtar Colony, Jamnadas, Hirabad, Lalchandabad, Scheme no 2, Mehmoodabad etc had adversely been affected.

Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, he deplored there was no responsible officer at the site to oversee the work on Rs three billion worth drainage project. He further said that no master plan had been submitted to him and added that he was also the member of the committee as per the directives of Sindh High Court, but neither the committee was officially notified, nor was he being taken into confidence on the project. He said this was clearly a contempt of court.
