ISLAMABAD- Saifuddin Khosa, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) MNA from Dera Ghazi Khan (NA- 173) and scion of veteran PML-N leader Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa, has formally joined Pakistan People's Party along with his supports and companion.
He announced joining PPP here at Zardari House in federal capital on Wednesday afternoon listing serious differences with PML-N leadership over policies especially relating to southern Punjab districts as reason behind the break-up with Nawaz League.
Flanked by PPP central General Secretary Jahangir Badr and PPP Women Wing President Ms Faryal Talpur Saifuddin Khosa charged that PML-N was not serious about granting status of province to south Punjab and was just doing politics on the very serious issue.
He further said that it was the sincerity and seriousness of PPP toward establishing province comprising southern Punjab districts, which mainly compelled him to join this party. He was also all praise for the Benazir Income Support Programme, which in his view was serving the cause of poor people in true sense.
He made it clear that he was joining PPP without any condition and would serve the cause of the people of his area particularly his constituency from the platform.
President of Women Wing of PPP Faryal Talpur welcomed Saifuddin Khosa for joining the party and said his joining would further strengthen the PPP. She said his party had always followed the politics of principles with the sole objective of the welfare of the people.
In his brief remarks on the occasion Secretary General of PPP Jehangir Badr said the PPP represented the will of the people and welcome people belonging to all areas and shades in its fold. He said they were striving to bring social and economic change in the lives of the people through joint efforts.
Federal Minister for Information Qamar Zaman Kaira said that each and every segment of the society has representation in the PPP. "We do not forget our old workers but at the same time our doors are open for the new entrants," he added.
Federal Minister Makhdoom Sahabuddin appreciated contribution of Saifuddin Khosa's family in politics. He said Saifuddin Khosa is an upright person and hoped he will carry forward the flag of PPP for the rights of the people.
It is pertinent to mention here that it would be the third defection of a sitting MNA from Pakistan Muslim League(Nawaz) to the PPP in less than two weeks time as earlier the two real brothers, both MNAs from Jhelum, had joined PPP along with their father, a former Parliamentarian at Bilawal House Karachi.
