Dacoits gang busted

CHUNIAN - The Chunian police have arrested seven alleged culprits and recovered illegal weapons from their possession, the Kasur district police officer has claimed. Talking to the media, Syed Khurram Ali said that the gang consists of 15 members. They used to loot passengers and commit robberies. He said due to flaws in judicial system, such dacoits go scot-free whenever they are sent to jail. He elaborated that all the members of the gang bore the expenses to get their accomplices released from courts. Earlier, on the directives of Kasur Additional SP, the Chunian DSP formed a police party to arrest the gang. After tireless efforts, the police succeeded in arresting the seven accused. However, he said, raids were going on to arrest their remaining accomplices. After initial investigation the dacoits confessed to 18 dacoities in Lahore, Chakwal, Okara and Sahiwal while 10 in Kasur district, he said, adding that they also confessed to be involved in the Daewoo bus dacoity committed at Pattoki Bypass where Rs1.4 million, 500 pounds, 200 dollars, 4 wrist watches and 26 mobile phones were snatched. Five months ago, the same gang looted coaster (LHS-6201) in Kasur with Rs150,200, 10 cell phones and 5-tola gold ornaments. About four months ago, the gang broke into the home of Prof Zahoor, a resident of Kot Radha Kishen in Kasur district, looting Rs160,000 and other valuables. The DPO said that he had ordered for special security arrangements in Tehsil Court area in the wake of recent firing incidents in the court. He added that police had sufficient funds for conducting free and fair investigations of the cases registered and if any personnel were found in bribery, he would be dealt with sternly. The accused were identified as Liaqat Foji, Mushtaq, Alam Sher, Mansha, Akram, Khalid and Munawar Abbas of famous Liaqat Foji Oodh Gang. The police recovered 4 rifles, 1 gun, 1 carbeen, pistol 30bore and looted valuables including 3 motorbikes and Rs650,000.
