Iftikhar for uninterrupted power supply in Sehr, Iftar

PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Information and Inter-Provincial Coordination, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has stressed upon the Wapda authorities to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the holy month of Ramazan, particularly from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm and 2:00 am to 4:00 am so that the Muslims could fulfill their religious obligations of Sehr, Iftar and Taraveeh with full peace of mind.This he stated while chairing a meeting regarding developmental schemes in WAPDA sector in Peshawar on Monday. The meeting beside others, was also attended by the SE PESCO Khyber Circle Nadeem Anwar and PD PESCO. The meeting discussed in detail the developmental works initiated under the MPAs fund in WAPDA sector throughout the province and directed the authorities concerned to provide the complete break up of work of each constituency.The meeting was further informed that materials for 11 transformers along with trolleys for the 11 union councils of PK-12 have been issued and the same would be delivered to the respective union councils very soon. Mian Iftikhar maintained that they were well aware of the shortage of power in the country but being elected representatives, it was their utmost responsibilities to look into the problems of the people in this regard as the people have no role in the shortage. He categorically said that unscheduled loadshedding was intolerable. He however, said if the WAPDA changed its old transmission lines and reduce line losses, the problem of loadshedding could be minimize to a great extent. The Minister continued that after 18th Constitutional Amendment, power generation was also the responsibility of all the federating units and the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be followed in this regard. He added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has so far prepared the feasibility study of 24 hydle power projects in the province and out of it, foundation of two projects had been laid while five more were ready for initiation.
