FESCO chief among 4 suspended over power outages

FAISALABAD   -  Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Engineer Arshad Muneer, along with three other officers, has been suspended over power outage during the Eid days. A spokesman for FESCO said on Friday that electricity consumers filed complaints that they faced power outages on the first and second day of Eid. At this, the power ministry suspended FESCO Chief Engineer Arshad Muneer and appointed Chief Engineer LESCO Bashir Ahmad as new Chief of FESCO. Meanwhile, SDO Madina Town subdivision Farrukh Parvaiz, Xen Abdullah Pur Muhammad Amjad and SE First Circle Faisalabad Mubasshar Hussain were also suspended as power outages were reported in their jurisdiction. Further action against them is under progress, FESCO spokesman added.

Kashmir polls: 6 polling stations set up

Six polling stations have been established in Faisalabad to facilitate Kashmiris to cast their votes for the Kashmir elections. A spokesman for the local administration said on Friday that Kashmir elections would be held on Sunday, July 25 for which six polling stations had been set up at the Government Technical High School D-Ground, AV Modern High School D-Ground, Government High School No 1 Tandlianwala, Government Higher Secondary School Chak Jhumra, Government Islamia High School Jaranwala and Government High School No 2 Sammundri. He said that a number of Kashmiri people were living in Faisalabad and they would be facilitated to cast their votes in favour of their favourite candidates.

 Sufficient staff of police, Rescue-1122, District Health Authority, WASA, Faisalabad Waste Management Company, Municipal Committees had been deputed while all necessary facilities also provided at the polling stations.

Minister orders WASA to complete desilting of nullahs

Provincial Minister for Local Government and Community Development Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed directed the Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) to complete desilting of nullahs as early as possible. 

Chairing a meeting at the DC’s Office, he said the WASA should complete desilting of sewer channels so that the rainwater could be drained easily without creating problems for the public. He also directed the WASA to improve quality of its services to deal with any situation during monsoon. The minister appreciated performance of the Faisalabad Waste Management Company over its excellent service during Eid days.

797,289 people vaccinated in Faisalabad

As many as 797,289 people had so far been vaccinated against the COVID-19 in the district. 

District Health Officer Dr Ataul Mun’im said on Friday that 613,748 citizens had been given the first dose while 139,830 were administered the second one. He said that 35 vaccination centers and 20 mobile camps were operational in the city, adding that 

the centers had been set up in Allied Hospital, District Head Quarters Hospital, Government General Hospital GM Abad, Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology, Government General Hospital Samanabad, Children Hospital, Sports Complex Samanabad, Tehsil Head Quarters Hospital Jaranwala, Samundri, Tandlianwala, Chak Jhumra, Sports Complex Chak Jhumrah, Sports Complex Jaranwala, 

Government General Hospital Chak 224-RB, New Building RHC Khurrianwala, New Building THQ Sammundri, New Building THQ Tandlianwala, Social Security Hospital Madina Town, Wapda Hospital, Rural Health Centers Mureed Wala, Chak 174-JB, Chak 134-JB, Chak 229-RB, Chak 65-GB, RHC Lundianwala Jaranwala, RHC Khurrianwala Jaranwala, Pindi Sheikh Musa, Kanjwani, Mamukanjan, RHC Chak 400-GB, RHC Chak 153-RB, RHC Chak 374-GB and Chak 469-GB.

16,52-ton waste of sacrificial animals removed in Faisalabad

The Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) removed 1,652 tons of waste material of sacrificed animals from the city during three days of Eid-ul-Azha. 

FWMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kashif Awan said on Friday that the company received 6,180 complaints from citizens during the Eid days including 2,933 on the first day, 2,597 on the second day and 650 complaints were received on the third day. He said that 95 per cent of the complaints had been redressed till date.

He said that after removal of offal and entrails of sacrificed animals, the FWMC workers also had started washing and cleaning of the city roads. He said that Sheikhupura Road had been washed, while the operation was under way currently.
