Apparel sector needs help

ISLAMABAD- Dr Shahzad Arshad, Chairman Pakistan Cotton Fashion Apparel Manufacturers & Exporters Association, appealed the government to look into the most serious issue of R&D, continuation for the coming few years. He stated that if the R&D facility being given to apparel exporters of the country is withdrawn, then the apparel export based industry, will collapse, said a press release issued here. The apparel export based industry of Pakistan, earns more than 3.5 billion US dollars, for the country and contributes 25 percent of the total country's export, and at the same time gives employment to 40 percent of the industrial labour of the country. Dr Shahzad Arshad said that the government should take immediate notice of this most serious issue, due to which the apparel export based industry of Pakistan is in chaos.
