Peshawar     -     The Karwan-e-Ilm Foundation and University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to offer ten scholarships to the deserving and talented students of UET at undergraduate level for the academic session 2022-2023.

The MoU signed by Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain and Director Karwane-e-Ilm Foundation, Khalid Irshad Sofi in a ceremony attended by senior officials of UET Peshawar.

On the occasion Khalid Sofi said that primarily objective of Karwan-e-Ilm Foundation’s financial assistance is to support the talented and deserving students from across Pakistan at all levels for achieving their educational objectives. The scholarships to UET Peshawar will holistically cover the expenses of the students including semester fee, hostel fee, stipend and other expenses so that they do not get struck at any stage of their engineering education.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain appreciated the initiative and urged the need to extend scholarship portfolio in future. He said, since UET Peshawar is a public sector university, majority of students come from remote areas who show best academic performance, however, are unable to continue their studies due to lack of financial support from their parents.

On the other side, due to financial and economic crisis in the country, the government has also decreased the number of scholarships to the deserving students of public sector universities.

which as a result has increased our dependency on such welfare institutions to help these students. He expressed the hope through such initiative, we would be able to help the deserving students to come out of the crisis.
