Two accidents cause six deaths

SHEIKHUPURA/SHORKOT- Six persons including two women were killed in two road accidents occurred in different areas here on Monday.
In Sheikhupura, two women were killed and seven others including five women sustained injuries in a road accident here near Hirn Minar Interchange late on Monday.
Rescue sources informed that nine members if a family were on the way back to Lahore in a van after attending a wedding here. As they reached near Singho Wala Dera near Hirn Minar Inter-change, driver lost control and the van collided head-on with a clay-laden tractor-trolley coming from the opposite direction. As a result, Gulzaran Bibi, 45, and Shumaila, 20, died on the spot. While seven persons including five women received critical injuries and were shifted to DHQ Hospital. The Saddr Police impounded the tractor-trolley and started investigation against its absconding driver.
In Shorkot, four persons, riding a motorcycle, were killed in horrible accident near Sultan Bahu Bridge here Monday.
The police said the accident occurred when a speeding van collided with a motorcycle and later fell into a ravine. Resultantly, the four motorcyclists were killed and eight other got multiple injuries.
On information, Rescue 1122 personnel arrived at the scene and shifted the injured and dead bodies to hospital.
Doctors at the hospital stated that condition of four of the injured is critical condition and they have been referred to Nishtar Hospital Multan.
