KARACHI - Pakistan People's Party has decided to nominate Advisor to CM Prison Gul Mohammad Jakhrani as PPP candidate for by-election NA-210 to be held on December 15, 2008. NA-210 seat was vacated after the death of PML-Q forward-bloc leader Nasrullah Khan Bijarani who defeated PPP candidate Sardar Shehreyar Khan Mazari in 2007-08 election. Jekhrani joined the PPP when Benizar Bhutto returned from exile and led the PPP election campaign in general election 2007-08. He started his political career from the student politics and was an active student leader of Jeay Sindh Student Federation. Later he joined Sindh National Front Party headed by former Sindh CM Mumtaz Ali Bhutto. It's recalled here that wife of late Nasrullah Khan Bijarani, Dr Arifa Bijarani, had also joined PPP but her nomination papers had been rejected. Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh Chaudhry Qamar-uz-Zaman told TheNation that 14 candidates had filed their nomination papers to contest by-election on NA-210 and only one candidate Dr Arifa Bijarani nomination papers had been rejected.
