The Sindh High Courts larger bench on Wednesday indefinitely adjourned the hearing into a petition challenging the holding of offices of the president of Pakistan and co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party by Asif Ali Zardari. The larger bench began hearing the petition on Wednesday which was adjourned following the Attorney Generals failure to appear in court. Moreover, the governments lawyer stated that President Zardari had not received any notices pertaining to the hearing. The court subsequently directed that notices be issued again to all parties involved. Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Justice SHC Sarmad Jalal Osmany had constituted a three-member judges bench to hear the petition. The petition was filed by Advocate Rasheed Akhund, who prayed to the court to direct the president to resign from the partys co-chairmanship as he could not hold two offices under the Constitution.
