KARACHI – Despite the possible threats of terrorism in the metropolis, thousands of mourners participated in the 8th Muharram procession, taken out from Nishtar Park and after marching on the set route, it concluded at Hussania Iranian Imambargah in tight security. Keeping in view the recent three bomb blast in Karachi, the government and law-enforcement agencies have made strict security arrangements for 8th Muharram to protect the precious lives of the citizens, who gathered to pay tribute to the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and his companions in Karbala. All entrances and exits on the route were closed with containers while shops situated on Numaish Chowrangi, Saddar, Tibet Centre, Light House and Bolton Market have also been sealed off. Before the procession was taken out, a central Majlis was held in the Nishtar Park at 11am, in which Maulana Ali Naqvi delivered a speech. Speaking on the occasion, Molana Naqvi has paid tribute to Hazrat Abbas (RA), the commander of Lashkar-e-Imam, and said Abbas was the courageous person among the Arabs but he was not allowed by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) to fight freely against the evil force of Yazid. “Azadar-e-Imam Hussain cannot be stopped from marking the days of mourning of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) in any part of the world, while the cowardly terrorist acts of the extremists would ultimately encourage the lovers of Hazrat Hussain (RA) towards devotion and sacrifice. We need to follow the right path of Islam for prosperity of Ummah,” he said. After the majlis, the procession was taken out after Friday prayers from Nishtar Park under the headship of Abul Hasan Scout. The procession was culminated at Hussainia Iranian Imam Bargak, Kharadar after passing through Numaish, Reagal Chowk, MA Jinnah Road, Jamia Cloth, Light House, City Court and Pan Mandi. A large number of women and children were the major part of the participants of the procession, in which Alam, Tazia, Zuljinah and Taboot were presented symbolically. During the procession, as compare to previous years the provincial government and law enforcers have taken extraordinary security measures to handle any untoward situation.
