Doctors’ protest continues

QUETTA – Doctors continued their strike Friday throughout the province against the kidnapping of Dr Saeed Khan who was abducted on October 16 from Sariab Road.
All the emergency services as well as other departments remained closed in all government hospitals in Quetta, including that of Civil Hospital Quetta and Bolan Medical Complex Hospital. A large number of patients had to return homes without having treatment, as doctors did not turn up to the hospitals.
Talking to media, Combined Military Hospital representative Col Irshad said they were providing medical facilities to all the patients visiting the hospital. It may be mentioned that due to the unending strike of doctors in government hospitals, an emergency cell was set up at Combined Military Hospital where civilians are being treated by army doctors.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Medical association President Sultan Tareen has said that they would close the emergency services in all state-run hospitals on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. “We had offered the Balochistan government to withdraw the cases against doctors, but haven’t received any response from the government.”
