EDO warns against exploitation of growers

TOBA TEK SINGH - EDO Agriculture Dr Mian Shafiq Muhammad claimed that Agriculture Department experts had given estimate target of 395,356 acres for wheat sowing for current sowing season in the district, out of which 50 percent target had been achieved so far.
He said that the Agriculture Department experts were training the farmers about the new ways to use fertilizers with proper period and intervals for getting more per acre yield.
Meanwhile, DCO Syed Javed Iqbal has said that no one will be allowed to purchase sugarcane from the growers who will have no licence issued by the government for the purpose.  Addressing the sugarcane growers here, he said that sugar mills owners would be directed to make payment to the farmers against supply of sugarcane within 15 days.  He directed the Assistant Commissioners, Agriculture Officers and Labour Officers to inspect weighing scales at sugarcane purchase centres twice a week.
