SIALKOT - Federal Minister for National Regulations and Services Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has urged the people to seek inspiration from sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussein (RA) and fight against tyranny, dictatorship and terrorism, to put the country on path of progress and development. She said that at Karbala the family of Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him) and His grandson offered supreme sacrifice to uphold the golden principles of Islam against the undemocratic and dictatorial powers.

She stated this while addressing a conference on "Shahaadat-e-Hussein (RA)" here. Dr Firdous revealed that Karbala tragedy remembered as a historical event which had set lasting example of sacrifice for upholding truth and principles. The Jihad fought by Hazrat Imam Hussein along with his companions is a glowing example of courage, patience perseverance and determination," the minister added.

The Federal minister narrated that Ashura disseminated the message of not to hesitate for render any sacrifice for upholding the principles of truthfulness and Islamic values. She added that today the Muslim Ummah was passing through a difficult phase and was confronting problems and challenges of extremism and terrorism. She said that today Ummah needed the spirit of Karbala, and added that with spirit of sacrifice and unflinching determination the Muslim can overcome all difficulties. She pointed out that the best way to pay tributes to the martyrs of Karbala was to make commitment on this day to work and devote oneself for the development and prosperity of the country.

Dr Firdous stated that the day was a reminder of how to stand up for the right with dauntless courage for freedom and justice and will serve as a glowing example for the entire humanity till the end of this world. The Federal minister said that Karbala will always be quoted as a symbol of determination and resolve and an unmatched example of bravery against a despot.

She added that the whole nation united against terrorism and was committed to weeding out the menace from the country shoulder-to-shoulder with the armed forces of Pakistan.

She declared that the terrorists, extremists and militants were the enemy of Islam and Pakistan and no one would be allowed to sabotage the peaceful atmosphere during Muharram.

Dr Firdous sought the active cooperation of the Ulema from all sects to come forward and play their role in forging harmony, unity and brotherhood during the month of Muharram.

She also urged the Ulema, traders, teachers, social workers, politicians and notables to play their role for promoting unity and peace in the society during Muharram.
