LAHORE–Ambassador of Norway in Pakistan Cecile Landsverk called on PML-N President Nawaz Sharif in Raiwind on Friday and discussed ways of strengthening bilateral relations.

Nawaz told the Norwegian envoy that Pakistan has long standing economic and trade relations with Norway and the help and assistance extended by Norwegian government in 2010 to flood-victims of Pakistan is highly valued by the Pakistani people.  He said that there was a vast scope of cooperation between Pakistan and Norway in realms of education, health and social sectors. He said that exports of cotton, textile and leather from Pakistan to Norway should be increased.  The ambassador informed Nawaz Sharif that Norway has made large investment in telecommunication sector in Pakistan. She said that Norway is the world’s third biggest exporter of gas, fifth of oil and sixth of hydro power, adding that there was a need to increase cooperation in gas, oil and hydro power projects between the two countries.

Nawaz said that Pakistan can take Norway’s help in overcoming its energy crisis. Meanwhile, PML-N leaders from Faisalabad Chaudhry Asim Nazir and Chaudhry Zahid Nazir also met Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Raiwind and exchanged views on political situation. Former member UK Parliament Chaudhry Sarwar was also present during the meeting.
