PERTH – Pakistan hockey team’s dismal performance in the International Super Series Hockey 9s continued as they lost the second consecutive match of the event on Friday.
After losing 4-2 to Australia, Pakistan repeated the same performance on Friday against England too when they were beaten again by the same margin 4-2. Forward Nick Catlin was the difference for England scoring twice against Pakistan, as the fourth ranked nation finished the stronger of the two teams to take a four goals to two victory and maintain a perfect record as they had already defeated India 2-1 on Thursday. Barry Middleton and Ben Arnold were other scorers for the winners. Pakistan’s goals came through Abdul Haseem Khan and Umar Bhutta. In second match, Australia edged out a much improved Indian side in a 4-3 thriller. The Aussie victory ensured that Australia and England will meet each other in the final on Sunday.
