PM says D-8 Summit to improve co-op among member states

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Raja Prevez Ashraf said Friday that adoption of D-8 Charter in Islamabad at the 8th Summit was a major achievement for the organisation, which will go a long way in improving interaction and cooperation among the member states. The Prime Minister was talking to Chairman BOI/ MOS Finance, Saleem H Mandviwala, who called on him at the PM’s House. He said that the hosting of D-8 Summit provided an opportunity to interact with the D-8 leaders both during the Summit and at bilateral level. Salim H Mandviwala also briefed the Prime Minister on the status of implementation of decisions taken by him when he visited the office of Board of Investment (BoI) last month.Meanwhile, Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi, MoS for Water & Power, and Sardar Shah Jahan Yousaf, MoS for Professional & Technical Training called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf separately and discussed with him issues in connection with their respective constituencies. The PM said that the govt is committed to public welfare and every effort has been made during the last four years to provide relief to the people at large. Both the legislators apprised the PM about the developmental projects under execution in their respective constituencies and the Prime Minister directed them to expedite the pace of developmental work for the benefit of the people.The Prime Minister expressed the hope that the developmental projects initiated by the present democratic government will go a long way in raising the standard of the people and provision of basic needs.
