KARACHI – Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has said that maintenance of law and order and provision of security to people is prime duty of government agencies including police, Rangers and other law-enforcement agencies, and no negligence or carelessness would be tolerated in this regard. He was talking to media men during his surprise visit to Muharram procession routes after Friday prayers at MA Jinnah Road. IG Police Sindh Fayyaz Ahmad Leghari, AIG Police Karach Iqbal Mehmood, DC South Karachi, DIG Police, Rashid Rabbani, Waqar Mehdi, Siddique Abu Bhai and others were present.He said that police had sealed areas of the procession so that Azadar should perform Azadari freely and without any fear.   He stressed upon people to cooperate with administration and law enforcing agencies, so as to face any eventuality with dignity and honour. Qaim said that police and Rangers had made adequate and prompt measures to combat the situation, while they have been directed to further streamline the security plan with prompt patrolling of forces, vigilance on activities of criminals and terrorists.On a question, he said that we are confident to have prompt control but police and Rangers, but however, in case of security to masses or national interest, the military and armed forces can be called for the help and assistance of provincial government.Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah visited various parts of the Karachi and personally assessed the measures and arrangements of security by Police, Rangers and other law enforcement agencies in connection with Muharram.Leghari who was driving the vehicle, briefed the chief minister about security arrangements for smooth flow of Muharram processions, Majalis and other religious ceremonies.Qaim went around Khajoor Chowk, Shaheen Complex, II Chundrigar Road, Tower, new Memon Masjid, Bolton Market, Denso Hall, City Courts, Light House, Regal Chowk and Haji Abdullah Haroon Road, Bohri Bazar, Empress market And MA Jinnah Road. AIG Police Karachi Iqbal Mehmood gave details of police force deployed on procession route and other parts of city. The CM himself witnessed security arrangements and every entry on MA Jinnah Road/route of processions and directed the police authorities to have more security measures strengthened for safety and protection of lives and properties of public. Qaim who was accompanied by Senior Special Assistant To CM Mr. Rashid Rabbani, Special Assistant Waqar Mehdi And Political Coordinator to CM Siddique Abu Bhai; witnessed positions of police force, ladies staff, police vehicles, fire brigades placed on the premises of NJV High School and traffic police. Qaim assessed availability and deployment of Rangers force at various positions. Rangers were performing duties on bikes.The chief minister directed IG Police to further evolve precautionary and protective measures for foolproof security, safe guard and control of law and order with vigilance and monitoring regularly.
