MANDI BAHAUDDIN - The District Health Department launched a crackdown on quacks and unauthorized medical practitioners here on Friday.
In this regard, a team of the department led by EDO Health Amjad Iqbal raided various clinics and medical stores being run by fake doctors. During the drive, three persons were booked on the charge of selling spurious medicines while three clinics at Qadirabad, one at Mianawal Ranjha and one at Kuthala Sheikhan were sealed. People involved in fake business of selling spurious medicines and running clinics without having qualified staff would be dealt with iron hands, the EDO warned.
UTP dies of cardiac arrest: An under trial prisoner (UTP) died of a cardiac arrest here in district jail on Friday.
Reportedly, 42-year-old Tariq, a resident of Salaiman village in Tehsil Phalia was languishing in the jail in a murder case. He suddenly suffered a heart attack and his condition turned precarious. He was evacuated to DHQ Hospital where he died before he could get treatment. His body was later handed over to the family.
