Will not tolerate politics in railways: Sheikh Rasheed

Railway Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad has said no political decision will be taken in railways now and jobs will be given to people on merit.

He said this while addressing a press conference on Saturday.

He held that it was beyond his capacity to demolish 10 to 12 thousands homes constructed on railway land, however, he will support KMC against encroachments. Railway land was encroached upon in Karachi due to politics, he added.

While speaking about jobs in Railway, he said that the youth should come forward in Railway and jobs now will be given to people on merit.

He underlined that over five thousands homes are constructed on Railway track, however, the additional goods will be removed from premises of railway tracks till December 30. Most of the Railway track from Peshawar to Landi Kotal was swept away in flood and we will work on it. Railway hospital, college and schools will be built in collaboration with private sector, he remarked.
