Nawai Waqt Group of Publications in collaboration with DHA and DUHS held a seminar on a theme of Seminar on Global Diabetes to aware the masses about the rapidly growing disease.

Speaking to the participants, Prof. Dr. Akhtar Baloch said that diabetes was considerably increasing in Pakistan as 33 million people had been diagnosed with the disease. He said that around 20 million people in the country were on the verge of contracting the diseases.

He said that a large number of people had developed the disease but they were unaware about that.

Prof. Dr. Akhtar Baloch said that lack of exercise and consumption of junk food were of one the reasons behind development of diabetes.  "A comprehensive campaign is essential to aware the masses for prevention from diabetes. We all have to play our role in this regard," he added.

He also hailed Nawai Waqt Group of Publications for holding the seminar.

Assistant Prof. Dr. Syed Muhammad Hassan spoke about cure through Insulin and turned down a myth that Insulin was the last cure for diabetes. He said that use of Insulin at early stages of diabetes reduces complications amongst diabetics.

"Timely use of Insulin reduces chances of heart diseases, eye sight weakness and stroke," Assistant Prof. Dr. Syed Muhammad Hassan said and added Insulin is the most effective cure for diabetes.

In her address, Dr Nazish Fatima said that 537 million had been diagnosed with the diseases around the world so far, adding that around 26.9 million people were undiagnosed.

Dr Nazish Fatima said 6.7 million deaths were reported due complications caused by diabetes in 2021 around the globe.
