LAHORE - Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur Engineer Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob and Treasurer Professor Dr. Abu Bakar called on Speaker Muhammad Sabatin Khan in the Assembly Chamber on Friday. Provincial Minister for Higher Education, Raja Humayun Yasir was also present. Issues relating to the education sector in South Punjab came up for discussion during the meeting. Assembly speakers lauded the role of Islamia University Bahawalpur in maintaining financial discipline and high standard of education besides its initiatives in climate change. He said that the services of Islamia University for imparting higher education in South Punjab were commendable.
The Vice-Chancellor told the speaker that Islamia University was imparting education to over than 65 thousand students from South Punjab and remote areas of Pakistan. He further stated that Islamia University was meeting 85 percent of its expenses by following the principle of self-reliance.
Education Minister commended the hard work by Dr. Athar Mehboob for successfull completion of numerous development projects in the university. Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob also visited the House of Punjab Assembly and praised the architectural beauty of the Assembly building.
