Sialkot set for Cantt Board polls today

SIALKOT
A total of 20,176 total registered voters will cast their votes for the LB Polls scheduled to be held in all five wards of Sialkot Cantonment here today (Saturday). There are 10,729 registered male and 9,447 female voters there.
According to Returning Officer Ali Irfan Rizvi, the Election Commission has established 16 polling stations (two male, two female and two joint polling stations) in all the five wards of Sialkot Cantonment, besides, establishing 51 polling booths there. 16 presiding officers and 51 polling officers will perform their duties there.
All the political parties including PML-N, PTI, Jamaat-e-Islami and PPP were claiming to give tough time to each and win the LB polls. While, the independent candidates were also hopeful to give the tough time to their rival candidates belonging to the main political parties.
A great political hustle and bustle was witnessed in all the five wards of Sialkot Cantt. Tough contests were expected in all of these five wards in Sialkot Cantt.
The entire Sialkot Cantonment areas fall into the urban electoral constituency (NA 110, Sialkot-I) from where PML-N bigwig Khawaja Muhammad Asif was elected by defeating his close rival Muhammad Usman Dar (PTI candidate) during 2013 general elections.
As many as 33 candidates (majority of them independent) were contesting for the five seats ahead of April 25 local bodies’ elections in Sialkot Cantonment here.
