US President Barak Obama is planning to reshuffle his cabinet in an attempt to bring together the country's divided government. Senior aides to Obama say the US president is frustrated with the way things are going in the White House, The New York Times reported on Friday. According to Obama's outgoing senior advisor David Axelrod, the US leadership will undergo significant changes in the upcoming months. Obama is studying how to maximize the power of the executive branch, advisers said, seeking insight from veterans of previous administrations and fresh advice from business leaders to guide the second half of his term. The US president has planned to appoint a new director for the National Economic Council to replace Lawrence Summers and also pick a new senior adviser. The paper also said some of his cabinet members will be relieved from their posts, although they will help the Obama campaign for the 2012 presidential election. Obama is reviewing the restructuring plan during the holidays, aides said, and intends to unveil the first announcements in the opening days of January.
