PPP to make seat adjustment with JUI-F for LB polls

KARACHI - The Pakistan People’s Party has decided to contact the Jamiat-Ulema Islam Fazlur Rehman (JUI-F) and other parties to make seat adjustment in Karachi in the coming local government elections scheduled on January 18.
The ruling PPP and its former ally ANP already took a decision in principle to make an alliance for the Local Government elections in Karachi.
In this regard, PPP leaders Qadir Patel said the PPP and the ANP had in principle agreed on seat adjustment in the coming LG polls in the City.
He added the PPP and the ANP share common stance on many national issues as both the parties remained the coalition partners in Sindh, KPK and federal government in last tenure.
The two parties have the same views on the national and political issues, which further paved way for them to come closer by making an alliance in the LG elections.  When contacted, another PPP leader told The Nation that party will formally contact the JUI-F of Fazlur Rehman to make seat adjustment in the coming LG elections in Karachi. He added the local leadership will sit together and hopefully reach on an accord to adjust each other in the coming polls.
Meanwhile, the PPP leadership has stopped the possible candidates not to not travel to Larkana, Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto, to participate in the death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on December 27.
The party leadership has directed the candidates to remain in their constituencies to file the nomination forms and ensure their presence during scrutiny because the long distance traveling may cause hurdle in their quick returning to the constituencies.
The PPP leadership has also directed the district headquarters to observe the death anniversary at the district level too to avoid any disturbance in the LG polls.
