KARACHI - Pasban staged a protest demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Thursday against hiking of prices of petroleum and others essential items. The participants demanded to reduce the prices. As per detail, the workers of Pasban gathered outside KPC and staged protest agitation. They were carrying banners and placards in which the slogans were inscribed against hiking of prices of oil and others items. Addressing the agitation, President of Pasban Karachi Chapter, Syed Ashraf Hussain said that the people will not accept of increasing the fares of public transport. He said that Iran and Saudi Arab have been providing oil to Pakistan at very low-price, contrary to this, he said, people of the country are being subjected to high prices. He demanded to the government not to increase the fares of public transport and the matter should be brought to the provincial assembly. He said that if it is the genuine democratic and people representative government so it has to prove it, and the govt has to take the initiatives providing relief to the people nor the establishment and the bureaucracies. He also announced to start a campaign to create awareness on masses for launching a campaign against price hiking and increasing of fares of public transportation, he added at first they will stage protest agitation and public gathering on grassroots level. He said that the price of petroleum is being decreased around the world but it only being increased in Pakistan, he further said that if the govt would not reject the summary of increasing the fares so they will launch a huge countrywide campaign.
