Pak-Iran coop in IT to bring economic development

ISLAMABAD (PPI) - The Adviser to the Prime Minister on Information Technology, Latif Khan Khosa has said Pak-Iran cooperation in telecom sector can bring economic development. Terrestrial optical fiber connectivity between both the countries will be economically beneficial for the two nations and subsequently will promote peace in the region. The Advisor expressed these views while talking to Iranian Ambassador Mashallah Shakeri who called on him here Thursday and exchanged views on matters of bilateral interest with particular reference to promoting cooperation in the sector of information technology and telecommunication between both the countries. The Advisor said Pakistan and Iran two brotherly Islamic countries have an excellent history and were enjoying close brotherly relations, which would strengthen in the days to come adding the fiber line can be laid along with the gas pipeline to save time and expenditures. He mentioned the great potential of bilateral cooperation in the fields of information technology, natural resources and energy and called for the closer interaction between the private sectors of the two countries to utilize great trade and business potential to further increase the volume of trade between the two counties. The Advisor said the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipe line Project as a milestone and a major step forward towards enhanced economic cooperation, which would play a significant role in accelerating the process of economic development in the region.
