Islamabad - Foundation University Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences (FUIRS) organised the orientation ceremony for its pioneer batch of Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programme on Wednesday, which was attended by all new students and their parents.

Maj Gen (Retd) Gul Muhammad, HI (M), rector Foundation University (FU), was the chief guest on the occasion.

The ceremony was held to welcome newcomers and enlighten them about rules and regulations of the institute. All the faculty members and management staff were introduced to the students to make them familiar with the mechanism of the FUIRS.

While addressing on the occasion, the rector FU said that there was a mushrooming in the private sector of rehabilitation sciences and several institutes offering doctor of physical therapy programme were set up in a quick succession. The FUIRS shall stand out as an illustrious institution among the rehabilitation colleges of the country, he added.

He said the campus located in proximity of the teaching hospital provides a student-friendly atmosphere, which is highly conducive for learning. The expansion and modernisation plan of Fauji Foundation Hospital (the teaching hospital of FUIRS) with enhanced capacity has been fully implemented.

He informed the audience that Foundation University College of Dentistry building is standing complete and the degree programme in dentistry shall commence soon. He said FUI has recently computerised the entire system of its Campuses from admission to graduation and beyond, through a campus management system.

He said that the institute also provides opportunities for co-curricular activities including sports, athletics, debates and arts. In the end, the rector hoped that the newly admitted students would take full advantage of the opportunities and facilities provided by the FUIRS.
