The district administration has set up makeshift cattle markets in view of upcoming Eidul Azha in the district, as per the administration.

Four markets would be set up in Multan city. These markets will be set up at Railway Ground double Phatak, Ryan Silk Mills, Madni Chowk and Chungi No-9 in Multan city and Mauza Balail, Bakkar Mandi Samorana, near Government Degree College for Women Shujabad and Chowk Fawara Jalalpur Pirwala.

It directed the Solid Wate Department and TMA to improve sanitation conditions in the city. it also ordered AC City and District Officer Environment to take action against illegal slaughter houses and those melting fats in city area.

Meanwhile, District Coordination Officer Zahid Saleem Gondal has issued order for launching of crackdown against profiteers and hoarders. Chairing a meeting of price control committee here at his office on Wednesday, he declared that the profiteers would be sent to jails instead of facing mere fines as cases would be registered against them. He said that the district administration was busy in flood fighting and the profiteers got opportunity to raise the rates. He categorically declared that no compromise would be made on the price of edibles. He directed the price magistrates to visit markets and critical bazaars and arrest profiteers.
