NY rally condemns India’s HR abuses in IIOJK

NEW YORK   -   A large number of Kashmiris and Pakistanis additionally joined by Sikhs held a massive demonstration in front of the United Nations headquarters here yesterday against Indian atrocities against the innocent people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and demanded the world body to take notice of Indian repressive acts of August 5, 2019.

The demo coincided with the speech by the head of Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar’s speech at the UNGA session.

The rally was led by AJK President Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry. The protestors chanted slogans “down with India” “India leave Kashmir immediately” “India the killer of Kashmiris”...”Kashmir bleeds and world sleeps” and “down with Modi”.

The streets close to the UN headquarters in New York were filled with banners and streamers highlighting miseries and sufferings of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Kashmiris and Sikhs came to New York from some of the far flung US states and also from Canadian cities which made it a powerful rally.

Addressing the rally, various Kashmiri leaders strongly condemned the fresh wave of state terrorism by India in IIOJK and asked UN to take notice of massive human rights violations in IIOJK.

The speakers called upon the United Nations to put pressure on the Indian government to reverse its actions of August 5, 2019 and stop issuing fake domiciles to non-Kashmiris.
