Pakistan’s Shahzaib downs India’s Aman to lift gold in Int’l Taekwondo C’ship

LAHORE-Pakistan’s talented young athlete Shahzaib Khan has won the gold medal by beating India’s Aman Kumar in a tough contest of -54kg Khyurogi event of the ongoing 3rd Mount Everest Open Taekwondo International Championship being played in Pokhara, Nepal.
In the first round, Shahzaib easily overcame his opponent Aman Kumar by 7-4 points but in the second round, Aman struck back and gave Shahzaib a tough time, ultimately winning the round by 12-11. However, in the third round, Shahzaib made good of Aman after a sensational 7-6 tough play and claimed the precious gold medal for his country in style. Earlier, in the semifinal match, Shahzaib had beaten India’s Kushal Malhotra 5-4 and 11-2. 
In the female category, Pakistan’s Naqsh Hamdani won the bronze medal. She was defeated by her Indian counterpart in the semi-final contest. Meanwhile, in the -80kg contest, Pakistan’s Mazhar Abbas turned triumphant in his first fight against India’s KanifnathPokale beating the latter comprehensively by 12-1. While in Round 2 Mazhar won 7-4.
On the other hand, in the -58kg Male category first round play, Pakistan’s Haroon Khan won his first fight against Yaiphaba Meetei Loktong by beating his Indian counterpart comprehensively by 5-0 in a one-sided contest. Again in Round 2, Haroon made good of  Yaiphaba Meetei Lokotong 8-1.
Pakistan’s female athletes also played superbly and in the -57kg Women category Round 1 play, young Noor Rahman of Pakistan won her first fight against ThalapitigodaKottengangoda of Sri Lanka by 3-2. While in Round 2, Noor outclassed Sri Lanka player 14-4.
