ISLAMABAD - Police have mobilised security apparatus and started chalking out a comprehensive strategy in the wake of any sit-in call in the capital, informed a police spokesman on Saturday.
According to him, the overall law and order situation was reviewed in a meeting at the central police office which decided to ensure effective security measures in the city besides enhancing vigilance.
Following the special directions of Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah Khan, an important meeting was held at the central police office to deal with the sit-in under the chairmanship of Commandant FC Salahuddin Mehsud and IG Islamabad Dr Akbar Nasir Khan. All DIGs, AIGs, SSPs and other senior officials also attended the meeting and a detailed briefing was given to counter the sit-in call, he said.
It was decided that any law and order situation in Islamabad will be dealt with using modern techniques. Commandant FC assured that required FC personnel will be provided to deal with the sit-in and a regular plan has been prepared in this regard.
IGP Islamabad said that all the officers should be ready at all times to deal with any law and order situation. He said that Islamabad police will never allow it to disturb peace in the city and to take all necessary measures to protect the life and property of citizens.
Meanwhile, police conducted a search and combing operation in the jurisdiction of Shams Colony police station, he said.
He said that, following the special directives of IGP Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, search and combing operations are being conducted in different areas of the city, to ensure the safety and security of the Islamabad citizens.
Following these orders, a search and combing operation was conducted in the PS Shams Colony areas by local police, CTD and Quick reaction teams under the supervision of DSP CTD.
During the search operation, five suspects were shifted to the police station for verification, While 80 houses were checked.
IGP Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan said that the purpose of the search and combing operations was to heighten the security in the capital. All zonal officers were directed to continue these operations in their respective areas as well. Citizens are also requested to cooperate with police during checking.
