ISLAMABAD   -    A local court yesterday awarded police two-day physical remand of Shahnawaz Ameer, the son of columnist and politician Ayaz Ameer, on charges of murdering his Canadian national wife at a farmhouse in Chak Shehzad.

The court also accepted the plea of the police for issuing arrest warrants of journalist Ayaz Ameer and Samina Shah, the mother of suspected killer, for interrogation in the case.

According to details, the officials of Homicide Investigation Unit of Shehzad Town Police Station produced Shahnawaz Ameer before the court of Civil Judge Mubashir Hassan Chushti and sought his 10-day physical remand.

The investigation officer argued that the accused has allegedly murdered his wife Sara Inam after she came to Pakistan on his call.

The defence lawyer, on the occasion, said that this was a blind murder and he has no objection over the first remand of his client. He said this murder is only an accusation.

Civil Judge Mubashir Hassan Chishti asked the investigation officer as to why he is seeking arrest of the parents of the suspected killer, to which the IO replied that he wanted to quiz the father and the mother of the accused. Following which, the court accepted the request to issue arrest warrants for Ayaz Ameer and his wife.

The court, however, rejected the application of police investigators to obtain fingerprints of the suspected killer while observing that this task could be done through NADRA.

Earlier, the Shehzad Town police registered a case against the accused Shahnawaz Ameer under section 302 of PPC.

The sources, meanwhile, disclosed that Shahnawaz recorded his statement before the investigators that he murdered his wife because of her alleged affair with someone. However, the police had not verified the information.

In yet another development, two uncles of deceased Sara Inam reportedly lodged a complaint with PS Shehzad Town seeking legal action against Ayaz Ameer, his wife and their son Shahnawaz Ameer. The applicants stated that Ayaz Ameer and his wife are crime partners of their son and a legal action should be taken against them. The police accepted the application and moved it to the legal branch for further consultation.

Shahnawaz Ameer recorded his statement to the IO that he contacted marriage with Sara Inam three months before after interaction with her on social media.

He told the police that Sara was his third wife. He said Sara arrived Pakistan from Dubai on Thursday last and he had suspicion that she was having affair with some individual.

“Though Sara satisfied me that she has no affair with any other man, yet I was thinking that she is an agent of any country and wanted to kill me,” said the accused.

He told the investigators that he was caught by collars by Sara on Thursday night and he felt he would die. “I pushed her away and again she pounced upon me. I picked up a dumbbell and hit into her head,” Shahnawaz told the investigators.

He said that he dumped the body of Sara in tub and opened tab to clean the blood.

He said that he clicked a picture of the dead body and forwarded it to his father Ayaz Ameer.

“I also shared the whole episode with my father on phone and he later alerted the police,” said the suspected killer.

Meanwhile, the sources dislocated that the investigators of Islamabad police also found alcohol and ice from the crime scene.

The two uncles namely Col (R) Ikram and Zia Rahim of Sara Inam also told the police that Shahnawaz used to thug money from his wife (Sara) besides transferring her car into his name fraudulently. “Ayaz Ameer and his wife provoked their son to kill Sara,” they mentioned.

They also told police Sara kept her marriage with Shahnawaz secret from her parents who are settled in Canada.

“Shahnawaz killed Sara when she demanded back her money from him.” they said.

On the other hand, the police have decided to include section 109 (abetment) in the FIR after the complaint of the uncles of the deceased.
