islamabad  -  IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas has ordered an inquiry against the cops for patronising the gangs of beggars and bringing them to a charity food stall in an official vehicle in capital, informed a police spokesman on Monday.

The IGP ordered the SP HQ to submit her inquiry report within three days so that appropriate action could be taken against the accused cops against charges of patronising the gangs of beggars in Islamabad.

The SP HQ summoned the cops posted in Rescue 15 for recording their statements, he said.

Earlier, a video went viral on social media showing cops of Islamabad police dressed in civvies shifting more than a dozen beggars including children and women in an official mobile van of capital police to a charity stall.

Meanwhile,    SSP Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran informed that the capital police held a total of 4,573 professional beggars in the last two months, 54 facilitators of begging gangs had also been rounded up while 288 FIRs were also registered against the beggars.

“Police have shifted 3,681 beggars to Edhi Home, while 892 were sent to jail by courts,” he mentioned.

He said that police are carrying out raids against the beggars involved in seeking alms on the roads of the capital city.
