FAISALABAD - Veteran Christian religious leader Father Bashir Frances has expressed satisfaction over the peaceful Easter in Faisalabad.

In a statement issued here, he said, “Christians and Muslims are enjoying complete harmony and we must promote the culture of religious peace and tranquillity.” He said that Christian community has rendered marvelous services particularly in the fields of education and health. He hoped that our social fabric would discourage hate and intolerance which is detrimental to the much-needed social harmony in the country for economic progress and prosperity.

Three dacoits arrested, weapons recovered

Samanabad police on Monday claimed to have arrested three dacoits and recovered weapons and other items from their possession.  A police spokesman said police, on a tip-off, conducted a raid in Samanabad and arrested Anwar, etc.  The police also recovered weapons, cash, mobile phones and a motorcycle from their possession and locked them behind bars.

12 booked for water theft

Tandianwala police booked 12 farmers on charge of sealing irrigation water from Gogera Branch Canal.

A police spokesman on Monday said 12 accused, including, Sher Khan of Lundianwala, stole water  from Gogera Branch Canal and irrigated their lands and crops illegally.  To which, police registered a case and started investigation for arrest of the accused, he added.
