Pakistan an attractive IT outsourcing destination

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said Pakistan is one of the leading outsourcing destinations of the world and offers tremendous investment opportunities to international outsourcing community in information technology sector. The Prime Minister said this while talking to Herman Wimmer, President Middle East and Africa, TERADATA Corporation (IT Company), who called on him at the PM's House on Monday. The Prime Minister said that the present government's investment friendly policies and various programs initiated by the Ministry of Information Technology for the promotion of IT sector has transformed Pakistan into an attractive IT outsourcing destination. He encouraged the TERADATA to take full benefits of the government's investment policies. The Prime Minster specially mentioned the Benazir Bhutto Income Support Programme and the role that the TERADATA can play in the database and its streamlining for the benefit of 25 million people. He underlined the importance of developing a system by TERADATA to control fraudulent practices in the BB Income Support Programme. The Prime Minister said that TERADATA can also play its role in developing software for social sector development including health security, agriculture and energy sectors. The Prime Minister while appreciating the TERADATA's investment in terms of employment, technology, knowledge and direct investment also highlighted the present government policy to encourage FDI in the country. The Prime Minister encouraged the company operations in Pakistan and recommended to expand its operations in Pakistan specially its Global Consulting Centre. The Prime Minster recommended Hermann that TERADATA should use Pakistan as a regional hub for servicing the Middle East Market. Herman in response said that TERADATA is committed to increase its present strength in Pakistan from 300 to 500 professionals gradually bringing it to 1000. He also thanked the Prime Minister for his support and encouragement.
