KARACHI The 134th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation was celebrated with national enthusiasm and spirit on Saturday. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, provincial ministers and political leaders laid floral wreaths at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and offered fateha and prayed for Pakistan. CM Qaim and Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad along with the cabinet ministers reached the mausoleum of Father of the Nation and laid the floral wreath. The CM and other ministers offered fateha for the welfare, progress and peace in country. He said that nation is celebrating the day with the a pledge to transform Pakistan into a vibrant, progressive and enlightened country as envisioned by the great leader as well as to follow his principals 'Unity, Faith and Discipline. The CM Sindh in his comments saluted Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah who achieved a separate country for the Muslims in subcontinent. However, special prayers were arranged in mosques for the soul of the Quaid-i-Azam as well as for the progress and unity of the country. Meanwhile, a special ceremony of national flag hoisting also arranged at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, beside national flags also hoisted at all government buildings and semi government buildings. Various seminars and conferences were also organized throughout in city and other parts of the province to highlight the services of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his struggle in achieving Independence of Pakistan. Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for Culture Sassui Palijo, Saturday, paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation saying Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah was one of the great, upright and committed leaders who spent his life for the betterment of his nation. She said this while talking to media after inaugurating the pictorial exhibition on life of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah organised by the Culture Department held at the Arts Council of Pakistan. Ms Sassui Plaijo said that Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah was a great leaders, he had given the concept of welfare state, which was further followed by the Quaid-i-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. She said that Quaid wanted religious harmony in the country where there is no discrimination on the basis of caste, colour and creed and to achieve the same We should work hard collectively. Sassui Palijo witnessed the pictorial exhibition and taken interest in the picture of Quaid, said that we would further research to explore the other aspects of life of the Great leader. She also took interest in the photographs of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and said that such exhibition would also be held at Larkana and Karachi too. On the occasion, Sassui Plaijo congratulating the Christian community, saying that Christians enjoyed the holy day as their Eid, while We are also happy today because the birthday of our leader despite many pre-occupation we have gathered here to organise such exhibition to pay homage to our great leaders. Only those nations survive which remember their heroes and leaders, she said. The pictorial exhibition was witnessed by the social and general public. DG Culture Dr Sikandar Ali Panhwer, Director Dr Mohammad Ali Manjhi and others also attended the exhibition. Meanwhile, a smartly turned out contingent of the cadets from the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul mounted ceremonial guard at the Mazar of Quaid-i-Azam here Saturday as part of celebrations to mark the 134th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation. Maj Gen Mazhar Jamil, Commandant Pakistan Military Academy reviewed the parade, laid floral wreath, presented the salute and offered fateha. It is worth-mentioning that the first passing out parade of PMA was held on December 25, 1948. It was reviewed by the then Governor General of Pakistan, Khawaja Nazimuddin who presented the Quaid-i-Azam Banner to the champion company. The Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul has the singular honour of being the only military institution, designated, as Quaid-i-Azams Own by the Father of the Nation himself. He was the first and only Colonel-in-Chief of the Academy. The guard mounting ceremony by PMA cadets is a regular annual feature to pay homage to the Father of the Nation. Later, the representatives of tri services laid floral wreath and offered Fateha.
