Rupee gains five paisas against dollar


KARACHI - The value of dollar decreased against rupee in the interbank market, dealers said Wednesday.
It started the day’s trading at Rs 90.2 for buying, lost five paisas and closed at Rs 90.15 for buying and Rs 90.2 for selling. The Euro fell down against local currency as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 117.6 for buying, fell 35 paisas and closed at Rs 117.25 for buying and Rs 117.45 for selling. The Pound sterling increased against the rupee as it began the day’s trading at Rs 140.19 for buying, rose 18 paisas and closed at Rs 140.37 for buying and Rs 140.57 for selling.
In open market the dollar depreciated against the rupee, dealers said. It began the day’s trading at Rs 90.3 for buying, lost five paisas and closed at Rs 90.25 for buying and Rs 90.75 for selling. The European currency surged against the rupee as it initiated the day’s trading at Rs 116.5 for buying, moved 30 paisas up and closed at Rs 116.8 for buying and Rs 118.8 for selling. The British Pound gained strength against local currency, it started the day’s trading at Rs 139.5 for buying, appreciated 60 paisas and closed at Rs 140.1 for buying and Rs 141.6 for selling.
