peshawar   -  In order to create awareness against harassment of women at workplace, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ombudsperson will organise a three-day campaign from tomorrow (Jan 27) in district Dera Ismail Khan.

The campaign will comprise displaying banners, posters, engaging media so that to pass on message of KP Ombudsperson, which has been established in 2019 for the implementation of the protection against harassment of women at Workplace Act 2010, says a press release issued here on Monday.

The KP Ombudsperson is mandated not only to deal with all cases of harassment and inheritance of women but to spread awareness about the Act. In this connection, series of campaigns would be launched across the province and the very first event would take place in Dera Ismail Khan. The Constitution of Pakistan ensures basic human rights and that is the reason that the government has enacted different laws and established human rights organisations. Women are an integral segment of the society but have been made vulnerable by the patriarchal structures and systems.

In order to contribute to strengthen the position of all vulnerable segments of the society in the province, KP Ombudsperson will lead the district-level campaigns along with other human rights institutions that included KP Commission on the Status of Women, Ministry of Human Rights, National Commission for Human Rights, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department, Directorate of Human Rights KP and Child Protection and Welfare Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

These institutions have also formed a coordination committee under the leadership of KP Ombudsperson for protection against harassment of women at workplace, the press release concluded.
