The families of two persons namely Faryad and Shan, who were killed in a crossfire took place between two political rivals last Wednesday, protested here at Alam Chowk against the police apathy for not arresting the accused.
The police have arrested three persons identified as Nawab, Ansar and Nawaz but the protesters alleged that police were not arresting the main accused.
The incident was occurred Wednesday night when Ejaz proya group arranged a rally on the victory of Justice (r) Iftikhar Ahmed Cheema in NA-101 by-election while Ansar who belongs to PTI tried to stop the league workers for beating drums and chanted slogans in front of his house. After exchanging harsh words both the groups opened fire at each other resultantly passers by Faryad Masih and Shan received bullets and died on the spot.
On other side, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has registered cases here the other day against four officers and eight building inspectors of two towns on the charge of corruption.
According to reports, the action was taken on the letter of director local government Gujranwala in which he pointed out the increasing complaints of corruption against Qila and Aroop town. After registering the cases, inquiry has been started and other officers and officials would also have to face the legal action if they found guilty, he directed. In another case, Anti-Corruption Establishment has registered a case against a Patwari involved in transferring property ownership on fake documents.
COPS SUMMONED: Court summoned the policemen of Wahndo Police Station for committing house trespass and torturing three women.
Bushra Bibi had submitted an application to civil judge and alleged that police officials of Wahndo Police Station entered in her house and tortured her and two other women.
On the directions of the court, medical officer of DHQ hospital issued a medico-legal certificate (MLC) in which torture has been proved.
