'Govt stops wheat procurement'

LAHORE - Punjab government has disappointed growers by not meeting its promises of procuring even a single grain of wheat from farmers as growers in different parts of Punjab are criticising government in this regard. At the time of sowing and cultivation of wheat, government had claimed many times to procure wheat from all farmers but most farmers were claiming that their wheat stocks lying pending and they are still waiting for government action. Central General Secretary Kisan Board Pakistan Muhammad Ramzan claimed on Tuesday that government had stopped wheat procurement process as many growers still have huge stocks. He told that flag wheat centres (temporary centres) had been closed in whole Punjab and about 15 percent farmers are perturbed over the non-cooperation of government, adding wheat stocks lying at farmers homes. He alleged that government was claiming completion of procurement, which is not fair, as government.
