Karachi braces for scorching heat as temperature expected to reach 39°C today

Karachi is currently experiencing intense heat, with temperatures forecasted to rise up to 39°C on Monday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) the temperature may feel as high as 49°C due to elevated humidity levels.

The PMD stated that the city will remain extremely hot and humid over the next 24 hours. Winds are currently blowing from the west at 16 km/h, while the humidity level stands at 67%.

Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors during peak heat hours, remain well-hydrated, and avoid direct exposure to the sun, as heatwave-like conditions continue to grip the city.

Elsewhere in the country, mainly hot and dry weather is expected to prevail over the next 12 hours. However, rain, windstorms, or thunderstorms are likely in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Potohar region, and northern and southeastern parts of Balochistan during the evening or night. Isolated heavy rainfall or hailstorms may also occur.

Morning temperatures in major cities were recorded as follows:

Islamabad: 22°C, Lahore: 27°C, Karachi: 31°C, Peshawar: 25°C, Quetta: 19°C, Gilgit: 16°C, Murree: 13°C, and Muzaffarabad: 20°C.

In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, dry weather is expected in Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramula, while Jammu will remain hot and dry.
