LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed Rescue 1122, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), and district administrations to scale up relief and rehabilitation operations in the wake of recent rain and windstorms that have claimed lives and caused widespread damage across the province.
Expressing profound grief over the loss of precious human lives in weather-related accidents, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. “The Punjab government stands with the affected families in this hour of sorrow,” she said in a statement released on Monday.
She instructed the concerned departments to submit a detailed report on the extent of the damages caused by the severe weather and emphasized the urgency of providing immediate and high-quality medical assistance to the injured.
“All possible measures are being taken to safeguard lives and property during these challenging weather conditions,” she asserted, stressing the need for a coordinated and proactive approach to disaster response. The chief minister reiterated her commitment to ensuring timely support and relief for all those affected, directing field officers to remain alert and responsive as recovery operations continue across vulnerable areas.
