P&G brings ray of hope with its campaign with HOPE

P&G is one of the most prolific and prominent consumer goods manufacturing company of our country. Their products are bought and used by almost every household in the country. The company is one with purpose. This can be seen in the way P&G strives hard to fulfill its social responsibility towards the people of Pakistan while also retaining their position as the top manufacturer across the nation. This is evident from the hundreds of campaigns and initiatives the company undertakes for the welfare of our countrymen.

As such, P&G has extended its partnership for a $100,000 with HOPE, for the underprivileged women of the country. Under this collaboration, P&G and HOPE provide a platform to women who are vulnerable and are looking for means to support and provide for themselves and their families. Through this initiative, these women receive vocational training and get a chance to further develop their skills and become financially independent.

One such woman who benefitted from this partnership and turned her life around is Hakima Baloch. After her husband passed away, Hakima went through major financial crises. She reached out to HOPE, who helped her by enrolling her in stitching classes so she could acquire necessary skills to move forward.

Today, Hakima has taken up stitching as a profession and has made it her primary source of income. She makes enough money to send her kids to school and run her household. HOPE has reached out to 11695+ women and girls within a span of last three years through six centers across Pakistan.

Through this initiative with HOPE, P&G intends to promote economic participation of women in the workforce. They continue to challenge societal norms and gender limitations, and influence action and policy changes that will empower women in the communities. Strengthening the economic role of women is critical to reducing poverty, improving health and education outcomes for their future generations.

In a country like Pakistan that is still known around the world as developing, we still have  a long way to go before the women of our country can feel empowered and valued for their innate abilities. Women are the driving force and the most crucial aspect for the success of any nation. Through HOPE, P&G wants to give Pakistani women the chance to hold their heads high and see their womanhood as their strength instead of thinking of it as a weakness, as it has been the case in the past.
